  • Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Went to the theatre. Didn't like the show so left at the intermission and went and grabbed the camera instead.

I would have liked to get the reflection of the bridge a bit clearer but I kind of like this shot anyway.

  • Railway Bridge over the Nepean. I was actually going to watch the fly out of a huge colony of grey headed and little red flying foxes but was lucky enough to catch some beautiful pre-sunset weather just as a frieght train was crossing the bridge. I would have liked to have got the loco rather than the freght cars but some you win, some you lose....

  • Sliding Rocks Pool, Samoa. A mini Acapaulco in the middle of Upulo. An opportunity to prove your manhood and to get a sinus full of clear cool water if you get your landing badly wrong.

  • Nice to be able to get a couple of Aussie icons in a single shot. Personally I think the Harbour Bridge is the more impressiveof the two.

  • Power lines on the Kurnell Peninsula. Another photo I got whilst out on a flying fox count. This one was counting the colony on the Blue Water desalination plant site there.

  • Smith's Lake, NSW Australia, February 2007.

This was taken the morning after a VERY big wedding. Brain not entirely functioning when I took this shot and it's one of the first landscapes I took with a new Nikkor short zoom so it' ain't great but I like it. And that's good enough reason for me to post it here. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

  • The Station.

I didn't go looking for this shot so it was a happy accident. I'd gone down to the Clyde flying fox colony to do a population count and maybe get some photos. I didn't get a single decent bat photo but on the way back to the car, I noticed that the station was empty and fired off a few hand held shots 'cos the light looked nice.

  • Seeing as I like the Harbour Bridge so much, I thought I would include another shot of this seriously impressive lump of metal bits.

  • I'm not very good at landscapes. This one doesn't suck t-o-o badly though. But I don't think I'll be dedicating a whole gallery to landscapes any time soon.

This is the lighthouse on Nobby's Head at the mouth of the Hunter River, Newcastle, NSW Australia.

If you look at the road up to the lighthouse, you'll see that sand has been blown across it. This is the aftermath of some of the worst storms in 30 years. Just out of the shot to the right is a 40,000 ton bulk carrier that broke it's moorings and ended up on Nobby's Beach. I might even post a shot of the ship here too......

  • Sunsets in Key West are meant to be glorious blends of reds and oranges. We got there on a stormy night and got blues, lots of them. Deep toilet cleaner kinds of blues. Not what we expected but it was still spectacular.
